For Immediate Release:
AEG announces the end of active Clan War miniature production
AEG has suspended production of new Clan War miniatures. The
core reason is economic, pure and simple. AEG can simply no longer
afford to spend money on the "growth phase" of Clan
War, nor have we been able to make an adequate profit on the
line.
This decision is neither easily, nor lightly made. It has
some of the best and most loyal miniature gamers anywhere. Clan
War is one of the best miniature strategy games and has some
of the best figs on the market. But despite all of that, Clan
War has failed to make the company any money, and sadly, that
is what must be measured in the final analysis.
Like many other products, Clan War was adversely affected
by the wholesaler shake-out which occurred last year and despite
our efforts to re-package and re-launch the line AEG was unable
to acquire a significant number of new Clan War retailers and
players. Daimyo Edition launched with a bang and made a strong
impact, but over time new blister sales dropped to their prior
levels.
AEG has transferred production of Clan War figures to Reaper Miniatures.
Reaper has proven to be one of the best miniature manufacturing
companies to date. They've won numerous awards and acclaims for
their figures and were the obvious choice to continue
the Clan War miniatures line.
AEG will continue to support the line with tournaments and
in-store event kits. There will be ongoing coverage and new material
in the Imperial Herald, excerpts of which will also be available
at www.clanwar.com. New
material will also be released through www.clanwar.com.
AEG will continue to run Clan War storyline tournaments and
keep track of player points through Organized
Play. The Daimyo Edition rulebook and box set will be
in-stock throughout the year, as will all currently available
blisters.
