Tuesday, May 30, 2000 - Notes on Daimyo Edition

Daimyo Edition is a second edition to Clan War, the Legend of the Five Rings fantasy miniatures wargame. As with any second edition, changes have been made with the purpose of improving the product. Many of the changes made for DE are in the form of streamlining and clarifying, but a few qualify as significant changes to the game. All of the changes were made with the best interest of the game, and the players, in mind and I believe that players will be excited with the changes.

Because there was so much material to put into the hardbound book, we had to actually jump on the electronic file to get everything in. As it stands, the book is 320 pages, and it's all Clan War material. No room for fiction. Only room for one scenario, in fact. The book contains ALL of the rules for the game and ALL of the factions in the game. With DE, you'll never need to buy another printed product if you don't want. Of course, we hope you will, because we plan to introduce many great timeline changes and even new forces in the Clan War journals.

The new boxed set, due out at the same time as the hardbound DE, includes rules that are 100% compatible with DE, but does not include everything in the DE book. It's 128 pages and includes all of the rules you need to play Clan War, but is missing some of the bells and whistles. In addition, it has forces for the six Great Clans. Most importantly, it has 60 figures (all previously unreleased) to get a player going.

I hope this helps abate any nervousness about the Daimyo Edition - it's a great product and AEG couldn't be more proud of it.
